This is one of my favorite Thai places in the area! The Chu Che Duck is in a rich creamy curry sauce and it is fantastic! The Pad Thai is also cooked very well and not too many peanuts. Some restaurants over power with tofu or peanuts. This is just perfect! Great place!

My dad and I ate here tonight after reading the 4 star rating...and it was right on. We had the Tulip Dumplings as an appetizer. Very dense and tasty with a delicious dipping sauce. Also had a noodle app which was good. Main entree for me was Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken. Very clean, meaning not too oily as this dish can sometimes be. Taste could have been a bit more flavorful, but I'd rate it a 4.

If you are a Thai food fan, hurry to the Thai Orchid. Was there for the first time yesterday and can't wait to go back. Shared Thai dumplings and fortune bags--both crisp, not greasy, and filled with delicious ingredients. I had the drunken noodles with shrimp--large tender shrimp, noodles and sauce just right. My friend had the shrimp pad see yew--another tasty dish. The food is not only delicious, but the presentation is very attractive and the service is friendly and efficient . We both requested that our entrees be just a little spicy and we got exactly what we requested. This is a BYO so bring your favorite white and enjoy your meal.

Absolutely phenomenal Thai restaurant in Philadelphia! I came here with my super diet-restrictive Indian family and the service was so great. Christie was our waitress and she was so nice and accommodating. My grandma is severely allergic to eggs and the rest of us are vegetarian so needless to say, we had very particular instructions on how to cook our food Lol. We ordered three appetizers all of which were superb! We had the cabbage salad which is basically a traditional papaya salad but with cabbage. We had Tom yum soup which was so flavorful. And finally we had the veggie dumplings which are basically fried potstickers; these came with a delicious sweet dark sauce which complimented the dumplings very well. For the main course, we shared three dishes. We had drunken noodles, holy basil stir fry, and red curry and all were excellent and had unique tastes. You know the food is perfect when you don't have to add any additional sauces or hot sauce. We ordered our food mild and it was not too spicy but just perfect; I can't handle any heat and it was great for me. The decor at this restaurant is so traditional yet modern. I loved the color scheme, elephants, tablecloths, dishes, utensils, and even the water glasses were beautiful!! The staff all wears traditional Thai clothing which is a really nice touch too. Thai Orchid, please come open up a location in Los Angeles!!!!!!!! I'd give you 10 stars if I could.

This was my third visit (2 dine in, 1 take out.) I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Food was delicious and fresh. Staff was friendly and fast each time. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they offer a lunch special including soup, app and entree for $9.99. It is a good amount of food and everything I ordered was served hot, and fast. (Important since I was on my lunch break this time around.) My waitress was pleasant and attentive. It was a little chilly in the restaurant and I thought it was just me, until I heard others mention it as well. I ordered the Thai dumplings, Thai ravioli soup and the chicken pad Thai... All were very good. Pad Thai is always my go to! Overall, very good. I will for sure be back.

Four stars rated as a neighborhood restaurant. Service was on point! Atmosphere was pleasant. Tom Ka and Tofu soups were solid and hit the spot on broth. My wife and I were here this evening after buying a LivingSocial coupon. Between the two of us we ordered the Tulip Dumplings, the Plah Kung Salad, and one of their special items of the day - an "Evil Jungle Noodles." Of these three dishes, the dumplings were very average and the plah kung salad was also ho-hum. As I was writing the review, I went back to their menu and noticed that the description of the tulip dumplings says that they include a mix of chicken, shrimp, and crabmeat. Well let me tell you that I did not find the taste of crab meat in those dumplings! Certainly when compared with Chinese restaurants in Center City, the tulip dumplings were quite disappointing. The Plah Kung Salad which was a "regular" salad served with grilled shrimp and bell peppers was fine but as my wife pointed out, it had a little too much of the spicy lemon & lime vinaigrette in the salad itself and the dressing could have been given on the side. The other issue which I had with the salad is that I am used to having salads that are served cold (or at least not warm) but that was not the case here. I am not sure if it was on account of the grilled shrimp or because the ingredients had been kept outside a fridge, the salad appeared *warm* to me and that threw me off a bit. For all of their shortcomings though, there was one dish which really hit the right notes and that was the evil jungle noodles. Think of it as drunken (rice) noodles but one that also uses coconut milk in its preparation, which gives it an extra kick. W.r.t. the spiciness, although the dish was shown as having 3 chills next to it which translates to pretty spicy, we found the spiciness very manageable. Granted we do have some serious spicy food, but compared with what we might cook ourselves or even some Asian dishes that we have at restaurants, this dish was not particularly spicy. Besides the food, we appreciated the service which was quick. Also, our waitstaff were courteous and attentive in ensuring that our glasses were full all throughout the evening. They handled the LivingSocial coupon promptly as well. We left shortly before the restaurant closed at 10:00 p.m. but did not feel rushed at all. In fact, one of our servers asked us (possibly around 9:45 p.m.) if we would like to order something from the dessert menu, but being too full we passed up on that. As we were leaving, we noticed that there was another party (possibly parents with their daughter) also seated and chatting away comfortably. Lastly, we enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and felt that it fit well with the food. Overall, our experience was pretty positive and hence the (relatively) high rating. Things that take a star away are some of the issues I mentioned earlier with the dumplings and the salad. Also, when I did call them to make a reservation, they said that they don't seat patrons beyond 9:15 p.m. Now when the restaurant says that it stays open until 10:00, it seems a bit too much not to have patrons come in after 9:15. I would have certainly liked the ability to come in by say 9:30 because we did have to alter our plans slightly to make sure that we were there at the restaurant before 9:15 p.m. However, all things considered, I know that we will be back here again for some good Thai food along with good service and recommend that you also give this place a shot.

Had to drop this place down to 3 stars on account of its slow as a snail service!:( Seven of us made the 20 minute drive to Blue Bell on Friday for a work lunch because we've always loved the food at Thai Orchid. The place was packed, but not any more so than other Fridays when we've visited. Thankfully we got a table without having made a reservation. Their lunch special is a soup, an appetizer, and an entree for $10 and we all came for that. It took about 10 minutes from when we were seated for all of us to even get menus. We ordered quickly because we had to eat and get back to work! I timed it; it took 35 minutes from when we were seated to get our soups. Mind you, they have the same lunch special every single day and probably don't make each of the 3 offered soups individually so this wait was pretty ridiculous. The delays kept up from there and all of us were starving and becoming extremely letdown. The food was okay, but the hype was gone. Got back to the office 2 hours and 20 minutes after we left. I'm so sad to say that we probably won't be coming back here for awhile:/

Oh so good. The closest Thai place to where I work now is 15 minutes, and it's Thai Orchid. Their lunch special is a great deal. You get your choice of soup, appetizer, and entree for $10. N and I both got Thai Dumplings, Tom Yum soup, and Drunken noodles - hers with beef, mine with chicken. Everything was really good, and entree is large. I didn't give 5 stars because of the two following reasons: 1) They made hers WAYYY too spicy to the point where she almost couldn't eat. I got mine 1 spice level below hers, and when I tried hers, there was a huge difference! I actually wanted more spice in mine, and my one bite of hers set my mouth on fire. Yes, she probably could have sent hers back but she didn't want to. 2) We paid the bill. I checked my credit card statement later, and I noticed they rounded up my bill! It was only a couple cents but, hey, it's the principle that counts!!! Maybe it was a mistake, maybe it wasn't. Either way, it's never ok to alter someone's bill.

The Thai basil is still as good as ever, but the Grand Palace Vegetable with chicken, veggies, and glass noodles was a bit on the bland side. I had to mix the basil sauce in, which was actually really good. The portions are still very generous, and our food was served very quickly. While it may be that the spicy food is better, thus reflecting the high Yelp rating, I will say that my family and I were disappointed with most of our meal. The pros: the service was good and the decor was nice. The waitress offered us kids sized forks and spoons when the food came (dessert sized?). The dumpling soup was very tasty and the kids loved it as well. The fried tofu was bland, but well fried and crispy. The ok: I felt the shrimp Pad Thai was cooked to the right level, the sauce wasn't especially tasty, but it was edible, just not amazing. Similarly, the massaman curry was ok, but the quality of the white rice that it came with was subpar. The fried rice was fine. The bad: I felt the chicken Pad Thai had slightly over-cooked noodles in too much mediocre sauce, while the chicken pieces were tough and difficult to chew through. The coconut mushroom soup was interesting, but I found the pieces of chicken in it to be extremely tough to the point of being basically inedible. Fortunately, there were only one or two big pieces of chicken. I didn't like the salad at all - heavy lemon/lime dressing with cabbage type "greens" and a few chunks of tomatoes. The annoying - they automatically added gratuity to our party of 3 adults and 2 young kids. I thought it was normally parties of six and up? I didn't notice this when reading the menu, but in going on their website, it is prominently displayed that a gratuity if 18% is added for parties of 5 or more. They were very professional and refilled the water constantly, so they would have gotten a good tip anyway. Still, it's the presumption that I wasn't a fan of. Overall, there was nothing atrociously bad about the meal but it left me feeling lacking (and much poorer, $95 for 3 adults and 2 toddlers).

The lunch special was tasty and reasonable. It consists of 3 courses: I had a nicely seasoned small bowl of Lemongrass Soup, the crispy and flavorful Thai dumplings and the Evil Jungle Princess which was not as spicy as I expected but good nevertheless. My lunch partner had the Lemongrass Soup, the Thai dumplings which she rated good. For her entree she had the Pad Thai which was ok but she felt the flavors of the different components of the dish didn't stand out as they should have. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. The decor is very Thai and tasteful without being overwhelming. All in all, a good place to enjoy Thai food.

Delicious. Loved the fish cakes with the awesome cucumber sauce and the dumplings. The sister had the Tom Yum soup but it was a little too sour for my preference. The pad thai was delicious! I had the shrimp and she had the beef. Good sized portions. I would've preferred a lime vs. a lemon but with the lime shortage I can understand the substitution. It was extremely flavorful, almost too much, if that's even possible. So maybe add some more bean sprouts to even out the umami. Overall a solid meal. I would go back for the fishcakes and that amazing sauce they served with it! mmmm It might've been a little pricier than I'm used to but my sis assured me that's the going rate around her area.

This was one of favorite lunch spots, so I deliberated about doing this update. Lemongrass Soup and veggie spring roll were as good as always. The beef Pad Thai was sour - as if someone had squeezed a whole lemon into the plate. The beef was a bit over cooked, but edible. The few sprouts I could find appeared to be mixed in. I ate about a quarter of the dish. They did ask me if I wanted to take the rest home, and I said "No, it wasn't very good." End of conversation, apparently.

Like many have previously stated, this is a nice little place hidden in a strip mall. We had attentive service. Was a week night around 6PM with just a few other tables in there. Had the lemongrass soup with shrimp, was good, but a little more tart than many others that I have had. Chicken coconut soup, was also good, but the coconut flavor was way more pronounced that some. OK The Chu Chee Duck was EXCEPTIONAL! Served crispy, yet tender. Very nice portion size Great balanced blend of red curry with a little heat. My favorite Thai place in the area! The food is always extremely flavorful, the vegetables light and fresh, and the meat always is quality. It is a nice quiet spot to dine in or perfect to take out. It's the kind of food I crave regularly and they have wonderful vegetarian options. Even if you aren't a vegetarian I recommend ordering from the veg menu! This is my go-to spot to meet up with one of my closest friends. I never feel rushed. Most recently, my friend and I met up on a Friday night and meandered over a meal for an hour and a half. The food is quite reasonable and even the less spicy options are very flavorful. I've had the pad thai here which is excellent, but my normal order is the vegetarian lover. That dish is packed with vegetables, fried tofu and comes with a very tasty sauce and a side of Thai white rice. My friend ordered the Buddha dumplings to start and a noodle dish for her main entree. Her father owned a Chinese restaurant for years, and he still cooks for her at home, so she's very picky when it comes to Asian dishes. She's always happy to meet me at Thai Orchid which speaks highly of the food here.

I really liked Thai Orchid. The food was very tasty (altogether, we had pad thai, tulip dumplings, green curry, and chicken satay). Everything was very flavorful and hot (my husband's curry was spicy hot as well as temperature hot). The decor inside is really nice and for where the restaurant is -- located on the end of a strip mall -- you'd never expect it. When you're inside, you almost feel transported because it's done so nicely. The only thing that I didn't like about Thai Orchid was that it took an extremely long time for our food to arrive and there was an overly lengthy time between courses as well. The restaurant was packed when we were there that evening, but even so, I think they need to be a little more on top of getting the food out. With that said, the food was worth the wait and I definitely plan on going back in the future.

Found this restaurant, when we were really hungry and no clue about which restaurant to go. Although it is situated in a run down mall, the ambiance was amazing inside the restaurant. Probably, they should replace their old roof, which doesn't go good with their pretty props. We got Buddha dumplings for appetizer, which was amazing. Thai ice tea was usual. I got Jungle to Jungle for main entree, where as my friend got a dish which was a medley of beef, shrimp, chicken and vegetables with red curry. The only turn off is the dessert. The fried bananas were battered like double stuffed tempura and deep fried. As far as I know, from my thai friends, the fried banana will be slightly breaded and shallow fried. I would have given 5 stars, if it wasn't the only case. I would definitely go here again.
Thai Orchid is another local establishment I continue to frequent. The food has been delicious and the experience wonderful. I have visited during lunch and dinner during the week and weekends. I have tried to order something different everytime. Thai Orchid is a byob which helps keep their prices reasonable. The lunch special is definitely worth it for the portions you get and price paid. The only slight complaint I have is service was a tad slow for lunch and ended up being over an hour which caused me to be late getting back to work. They were busy for lunch service so it's not as if I was the only one dining in at that time. Dinner at Thai Orchid has always been an enjoyable experience. I've dined in with a large party and on other occasions with a party of two. Each time the service has been cordial and helpful. It's the little things like making sure your water glass is full that I really appreciate. I recommend the Evil Jungle Princess to those who like spicy. The drunken noddles are quite tasty as well! I have yet to try take out...Perhaps this will be my next Yelp Review.

Wild jungle princess. That's your first thing to know here. The food is great, the ambiance is very cool. It's comforting and not overdone like some of the south pacific restaurants you see. Thai chillies bring to life hints in each meal. The vegetables and rice are done fresh and you never taken a bite wondering "What can was this taken from?" For what you get, the prices are very reasonable. It's a little restaurant hidden in a strip mall, but it stands alone in blue bell.

However you like it, Thai Orchid is perfectly tuned to even the most discriminating tastes. I recommend the Thai Dumplings (pork, bamboo shoot, black mushroom, sesame soy sauce), Tom Yum with chicken, Tutti Frutti Duck (crispy and tender, with a sublime raspberry and Chambord sauce), and masterful Thai Eggplant with chicken and garlic. Whatever you get, you can't help but to enjoy asking for your favorites by name, when the names are like these: Fortune Bag Crying Tiger Evil Jungle Princess Heavenly Curry (who can dispute a name like that?) Love & Passion Lady's Slipper After your entree, settle back into a ice cream dessert with the power to produce multiple thunderous lady orgasms. Service is efficient, calm, and never rushed. Eating on the railed platform makes the experience extra fun, delivering the kind of surreal thrill you get when stepping onto a (Thai) Tilt a Whirl. The only thing more surreal is exiting this palace of pleasure onto a blank strip mall parking lot.

Consistently good Thai food. The ugly strip mall gives way to a pretty well decorated dining room, with details right down to the Thailand sourced bronze flatware. Service is good, it feels like there's not much turnover in their staff. They don't have great glassware, but it's not like the sparkling we brought was any worse for wear. Entrees are great, I love a blazing heat that is cut down just a bit with some cooling coconut milk. The green curry dish hits it right on with some serious intensity and more than enough sauce for immersing the accompanying rice. Bold and spicy shrimp was exactly what my wife was in the mood for with its own kick. We used to come here more frequently a few years ago. It's a bit of a drive from where I currently live, but I'm more than happy to pass a few other Thai restaurants to come here.

The Thai Basil was an excellent combination of being slightly spicy and evenly blended with sweetness and saltiness. I'm always up for good Thai food! We went for lunch at they had an excellent lunch menu, for only $8.95! (soup, appetizer, and entree) The lemongrass soup was yummy. I think the star ratings are accurate (from the 2 things I tried). One pepper is just a little bit spicy. But bearable. (Though my nose was sweating maybe just a little.) The tulip dumplings were probably my favorite, of the three parts of my meal. I got the Thai Basil, mostly because it was 1 star and I was afraid to go higher, and because I always get Pad Thai when I go to Thai places and wanted to try something new. Honestly, I think I should've just gone with the Pad Thai, or maybe what other Yelpers recommended, like drunken noodle or other dishes (but I was just afraid of the spiciness; now I realize I could've just asked for them to take it down a notch or two...), but the dish I got was still good. Just not quite 5 star good. But overall I think it was a nice atmosphere, decent service, and a pretty good price.

Came here for their lunch special on a Friday I think- they have a great lunch special, it was $8.99 for a 3 course meal. Thai iced tea was good (as always anywhere you go). The tulip dumplings tasted like shumai. We got their house salad (ok) and their lemongrass soup (not too great- tasted lke flavorless chicken broth with a few veggies). Their drunken noodles were good, soft and flavorful. Their evil jungle princess was just a spicy blend of chicken and veggies in this sauce. Also got their mango with sticky rice- they gave you a generous portion with different fruit in this bed of coconut milk- yum! I would come here again given the decent food and the great lunch special price.

Just had dinner at Thai Orchid and I was pretty impressed overall. The restaurant is very pretty inside and the servers were attentive, but not overbearing. I was really craving some spicy food and they didn't disappoint. Boyfriend and I split Tom Yum and Tulip Dumplings. He had Thai Basil with chicken and I had Drunken Noodle with chicken. The dinners were really good, my Drunken Noodle was pretty much the perfect amount of spicy. I like spicy food, so it may be a little on the hot side for someone who doesn't really do spicy much, but you could probably have them tone it down. The Thai Basil was also pretty good. The only reason I gave this four stars instead of five, was the Tom Yum. It was ok, but it was definitely missing something. The Tulip Dumplings were also ok. They tasted good with the sauce, but were a little bland.

I REALLY enjoyed the Thai Orchid. I wasn't expecting to find Thai this good in a strip mall, but my, was I surprised. They were pretty busy when we got there, but we had reservations so we rolled right in and got a table immediately (sweet!). I was really taken aback by how nice the hostess and the waitress were. They were genuinely very friendly and even laughed convincingly at my usual offering of lame jokes. The restaurant is a BYO and we brought a bottle of wine, which they promptly uncorked and put on ice. Their menu has a heat/spiciness scale that goes up to 4 peppers. I got the drunken noodles (marked as 3 peppers) and asked if they could make them "at least a 4." They were happy to oblige and I found the heat level to be perfect. The spring rolls were also very good. Overall, I was extremely happy with our experience at Thai Orchid and will definitely go back. Highly recommended.

This BYOB serves Thai fare. When I ask for my food to be made spicy, their staff does a great job bringing it out just right. On the menu, if there are 3 peppers by an entree to indicate its spiciness, I request at least 5 (usually 8 to see how high they can kick it up)! Their green curry is genuinely spicy - you ought to sign a waiver before trying to eat it! I've ordered their Thai Bamboo ($7, stir-fried dish with beef - you can get it with chicken - with bamboo shoots, peppers, beans, and fresh basil), drunken noodles (with chicken), and pad thai, all delicious. Servers are friendly - our servers (Nui, and another one I can't spell) are always good and efficient. I've ordered take-out here as well and the food comes out quick. They get busy Fridays and Saturdays! Make reservations if you want to dine in on those days. This is one of my favorite regional Thai restaurants - highly recommended. UPDATE: I came here on my birthday and someone mentioned it was - they brought out a cake with a candle, on the house, how nice is that?

After having an awesome experience at Chiangmai, T and I wanted to try Thai Orchid as well to see if it could hold up. It did! We had the Tom Yum soup, Fortune Bags, Drunken Noodles and Bold & Spicy Shrimp. Everything was just amazing but seriously, I can't get enough of the drunken noodles. T was the one who ordered the dish but I think I'm going to be forced to get my own next time. And I'd like to try it with shrimp instead of chicken just to change things up. Don't get me wrong, my bold and spicy shrimp were fantastic. Just enough heat to keep things interesting but not completely kill your taste buds. Fresh veggies and rice. Very tasty. But the noodles? There are no comparisons. I will say I thought Chiangmai had a BIT of an edge but that's just personal preference. I'm becoming a VERY big fan of the Thai food ...

In an attempt to find a thai restaurant that was open on a random sunday evening, we found ourselves at Thai Orchid. Yes, I thought that was strange too that we ran into three others that were closed for no apparent reason. The only reason we didn't try this first was mainly for distance, nothing philosophical. Anyway. Upon arrival, we were lucky enough to get seated immediately. As had been in a previous experience, there was a bit of a wait. Considering how packed the place was, the two servers did their best to accommodate everyone diligently. And, the place seems to be too small to have more than two servers as well. So we had to wait few extra minutes for our orders, but no biggie. The food took care of it all - Lemongrass soup, Chicken Coconut soup, Pad Thai Duck, Evil Jungle Princess, and 2 sensational banana (or something to that nature). The lemongrass soup didn't have any lemongrass in it. But, it was spicy and had three GIANT shrimp floating in it that made me forget all about the lemongrass. Soup wasn't too spicy or too bland. Just perfect and tasty. Chicken Coconut Soup was sensational. Some places make it really sweet that just takes the thrill away. We did wish there were few pieces of carrots in there. Pad Thai Duck was the special of the day. The duck was dipped in batter and deep fried. Although it was crispy on the outside, the meat seemed a bit too dry. But, I forgot all about that as I dug into the pad thai. Every bite of the tender noodle was balanced off with peanut garnish and crunchy lemongrass. I got mine to be extra extra spicy even though it wasn't indicated on the menu of being a spicy dish. The portion was just perfect to stem off a hungry stomach, but not so much so that there were no room left for desert. Evil Jungle Princess is a medley of vegetables and chicken cooked in a spicy sauce. Again, we got ours to be extra extra spicy. The dish was filled with sauce and fresh vegetables with a scoop of rice at a corner. Nothing bad or sub par can be said about this dish. Then came the desert. Oh Boy. Sensation Banana (or something to that nature) - basically, its their fried desert dish topped off with a scoop of a variety of their ice cream. We went with mango ice cream with mango sauce. The fried banana was brilliant - crispy on the outside, firm on the inside. Some places, the banana is overcooked and ends up smushy. Which was what I was expecting here as well. But, I was thoroughly surprised. The mango ice cream and the mango sauce was a pretty good complement to the banana. Their silverware was actually from thailand and made of brass. Found that to be an impressive feature. The decor of elephants plastered all over the walls was quite pleasing to the ambiance as well. The only down point of our visit this time was how long we had to wait to give our order and again for the food to arrive. But, can't fault them much for it. The place literally packed. And they tried their best to tend to everyone. Will definitely return again soon during a weekday or something when its less noisy/crowded.

I come here whenever I can for their Drunken Noodles. It's pretty good but still a little salty. I cannot say its the best I ever had....but it's the best in the PA/NJ area that I can find so far. They'll make it spicier for you if you want and will use actually thai chillies not like some places where they just added dried red pepper flakes. I'm not impress with their Tom Yum soups or the other appetizers on the menu. Once we ordered their dumplings and it came out smelling sour. We told our waitress and she said that's normal. I'm not sure that's right. Nothing should smell sour unless it's bad or pickled. In any case, instead of taking it away immediately she tried to dispute it. I wasn't very please with that type of approach. I didn't want to start a scene just wanted the appetizer to be remove. We still come here...because I do enjoy their drunken noodles but that's all we ordered.

I am proud to say that I have been in love with this place for two years now. The food is completely amazing. The chicken satay, crispy rolls and drunken noodles are to die for! It's a BYOB, so bring a good bottle of white wine to make for an excellent dinner. YUM!

My family and I love this restaurant. Everything about it is wonderful. The decor is exotic, the atmosphere is quiet and the food is delicious. The menu contains nothing unusual, the typical Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and Evil Jungle Princess among others. But everything is fresh, flavorful and attractively presented. The Thai Orchid looks like a typical strip mall ethnic restaurant but it is so much better. The staff is efficient, unobtrusive and remarkably attractive. They have a great lunch prix fix deal. It is our go-to neighborhood place and I recommend it often.

I have to admit, after reading several not-so-great reviews about this place, I was a little hesitant to try it. However, uber-hungry fiance in the mood for Thai food outweighed my doubts, so off we went! The restaurant is small and the tables are packed closely together. There is a whole lot going on in terms of decoration, so it can be a bit of a sensory overload. Overall, the service was excellent and very quick, especially considering there only appeared to be two servers for the entire dining room. We tried a few appetizers, all ok but nothing special. We both had dim sum, mine only mildly spicy and his quite spicy, and both enjoyed our dishes. The bill amounted to only $34 (the restaurant is a BYOB, and no corking fee!), which was great for the amount of food that we ordered. Not sure we'll be back any time soon, but I'm glad we tried Thai Orchid.

Came here after hearing some good things about their thai food, and always up for a change of cuisine, I figured I'd give it a go. Sat down in the multi-leveled dining room, which was filled with a handful of other lunch-goers. Not sure if they still run their lunch special, but I got a small salad, soup, and entree for a really good price. The salad was a simple, but fresh garden variety, and the soup, a vegetarian tofu was lightly flavored and not overly salted. I chose the green "Heavenly" curry, with all veggies, and it came out with a scoop of fragrant basmati rice and a delicious vegetable-coconut combo that was perfectly spiced, light, yet rich. All in all, the atmosphere, and meal were excellent, and I will have to try them out for dinner.

I enjoyed Thai Orchid this evening for the first time. I started off with the Chicken Satay and a friend ordered the Coconut Milk Soup. Both were outstanding. I only think I would have preferred was a little more cucumber salad with the Chicken Satay. Entree I enjoyed the Musselman Curry which was very satisfying with nice pieces of chicken and well seasoned, it had a midly spicy flavor and a nice hint of peanut flavor. I do have to say it had potatoes in it and they were not cooked hard enough for my liking, but this could be a Thai thing I am unaware of as I usually default to Pad Thai. Dessert I enjoyed the Cocount Ice Cream which had specks of coconut through out and was served in a Chocolate Shell. I greatly enjoyed the entire meal and suggest it. Sadly for the quality of the food and the styling of the restuarunt we were there for 2.5 hours as a group of 7 and only saw maybe 5 customers come in. I hope this was just because it was between 5PM and 7:30PM on a Thursday.
I'm updating my review because I've gone back a few more times with friends who swore by this place. The food actually has some good gems on it. It is a hit or miss, in my opinion. When it is a hit though, it is a big hit. Try the pineapple fried rice or the spicy Thai shrimp special. These were very good. Pad Thai was nice here, as well. Some of the other dishes are just OK. The inside of the restaurant is very cozy and nicely decorated.

I am writing this review because I just made a 1 star review of another thai place that I mistakenly decided to try!!! Forget that, I will never again try another Thai place in the area, Thai Orchid ROCKS! Great service, very nice decor, but mainly the food is wonderful. Plus it's BYOB, and the prices are very reasonable. Bring a bottle of wine, get 2 apps and 2 entrees, and with tip, you're under $50! That can't be beat. And like I said, I tried another Thai restaurant today, and I took 1 bite, and I immediately asked for the check, picked up my cell phone, and called Thai Orchid and ordered take out! That's not an exaggeration! My wife and I would like to apologize to Thai Orchid, we promise to never try another thai place again!!! If you're NEW to Thai food, let me recommend a few items. As an app, you want the Crispy Rolls (if 2 people, get 2 orders). If you don't mind some spice, get the Lemongrass soup, it's awesome! If you don't like Hot/Spicy foods, no problem, order the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken. My wife has a stomach condition, she can't have any pepper, this is her favorite dish, perfect every single time we've had it, NEVER has any kind of pepper in it. Another good dish for a beginner that's not sure about getting something with spice, get the Pad Thai with shrimp OR chicken. This one is very good for a newbie. If you're cool with spicy food, my favority dish is Basil Fried Rice with Chicken (also available with shrimp). It's my old standby, love this stuff! Sometimes I mix it up and I go with the Evil Jungle Princess, the Drunken Noodle with Chicken, or the Thai Basil with Chicken. You can't go wrong with any of these... AGAIN, THIS IS THE BEST THAI PLACE AROUND, SUPPORT THIS GREAT PLACE SO THAT IT NEVER EVER GOES OUT OF BUSINESS!!

Amazing..I've been here on several occasions and the food has been phenomenal. Ambience was decorous and really felt that there was a lot of time and creativity into creating a high-end Thai experience. I'm not all that into ambience...the food is where it's at. i've had the Cuu Cee duck..delicious..the skin is grilled to perfection and the inside are tender and juicy. Topped with a delicious white sauce which i used sparingly to savor the flavor of the meat. Their curry dishes are good..spicy, hot, flavorful, creamy, no toning down of flavor here. The noodle dishes are spectacular..they are Americanized which i think is a good thing. (I've had my fair share of authentic thai dishes). There is a certain flavor to these noodle dishes, unique to Thai Orchid and not necessarily a bad thing at all...to be honest, i enjoy these noodles moreso than the 'authentic' noodles you'll find elsewhere..they really got Thai noodles down for the Blue bell area in my opinion. All in all, a gem of a restaurant serving great Thai food to the Blue Bell area.

While that simplifies the choices and standardizes the prices, that also takes away from what use to be a pretty good menu. Also, if you swap to this method, you better make darn sure the limited items you're serving are good. This is the worst Thai food I have ever had. The red curry had odd vegetables in it for the dish and the shrimp were over-cooked. The pad Thai also had over-cooked shrimp and was just all around sub-par. The bbq chicken was horribly dry and very boring. The worst were the lotus dumplings which were the consistency of tuna fish and had gristle in them. We could not eat them but my cats loved them. My cats give Thai Orchid a paws up but its pretty expensive cat food. We will never eat here again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. I have been here twice and have ordered the same thing each time - Evil Jungle Princess extra spicy. I ordered take out the 2nd time and was slightly disappointed with the amount of chicken in my dish. If I sat down to eat I probably would have asked for more, but it wasn't that big of a deal. The service is quick and the food is bomb. Not much more you can ask for. Highly recommended if you enjoy Thai food.

We love this place! We've been fans for years. The ambiance is great and the service is excellent. They also accomodate take-out orders. Wetried another Thai Orchid in Devon (we thought maybe they were by the same owners?) but we strongly prefer the Blue Bell one. We love just about everything we've tried at this restaurant (except maybe the desserts...) I only knocked off a star because the last few times I've ordered the royal crabcakes they've had a bit of shell in them and the quality of the lump crab meat seems to have declined (more shredded bits of crab and fewer big, juicy lumps). I would have preferred they raise the price and not compromise the quality of my favorite dish.

If not for the food, this would be scored lower in my book. The food there was great! Me and my girlfriend ordered two different appetizers & entrees so we could share. We got the chance to try four different dishes. They were all awesome! The service needs to be better. We had a young lady who kept bringing water to the table every few minutes, then we didn't see her for at least ten minutes. The food is spicy and you do need to keep drinking to really enjoy it without choking. They seemed more interested in turning tables than taking care of the current customers.

The place was decorated very nicely and appeared very clean. Cleanliness is important for us. The waitress was nice and the food was good. Prices were pretty standard and the food presentation was nice. We ordered red curry duck and drunken noodles. No complaints about the noodles and the duck was really good. The red curry sauce was just a little bit too milky though. That didn't stop us from devouring the dish though. The crispy duck was really good. When we get a chance to go back and try some other dishes, I will update this review.

I think it's sort of pricey and the service isn't great. The Pad See Ew is very tasty and I prefer it over their Pad Thai. This place is ok for a quick Thai fix.

The waitress was very friendly, and concerned for my wife when she ordered the spiciest thing on the menu. She doesn't know my wife very well :) I ordered the drunken noodles, which was had 2 peppers next to it, denoting the spiciness. It was pretty damned spicy, which I liked, but I was actually sweating! The taste of the dish was DELICIOUS! Yes i just yelled that. I'm all about the 'ratio' of meat compared to the rest of the ingredients. (read my other reviews) The last few times I've taken out here, the ratio of chicken in the Green Curry dish is disappointing. 'Where's the Beef?' There was certainly enough potatoes, rice and carrots, but not enough chicken.. BOOOooo ... the Chicken Satay app is good, as well as the dumplings. I get the Satay so I can cut it up and add it to the Curry dish, which is lacking in chicken. Please Thai orchid, add a little bit more chicken to your main dishes, and I'll be a repeat customer.

one word: WOW! I went here maybe a month or so back as a nice night out with the boy. Due to the lovely economy, money's a bit tight so we were looking for something both delicious and nicely priced. Thai Orchid was it. We were seated promptly for a friday night, which I'm guessing had a lot to do with the torrential down pour outside. Drinks: Thai Tea! delicioussssssss! Appetizer: some sort of thai verison of calamari but SUPERSIZED. Served with a delicious peanut curry dipping sauce, made it so delicious. Not overly chewy which is something I simply CANNOT STAND. The food here is consistently good. My GF and I go here together, and we often meet friends for a foursome. The service is also very good. We have always enjoyed the place, never a bad experience. I've only been here once with a friend- it was just before noon on a weekday so we joined the business lunch rush. My impressions from Thai Orchid jibe with the tone of the other reviews: this place is elegant, efficient, and reasonably priced to boot. If you ventured here without prior experience or recommendation, you might be surprised to find tasteful decor and a well planned and executed menu at a restaurant that sits aside a Supercuts and Blockbuster. But perhaps the stripmall location equates this gem with a hole-in-the wall joint in a city or an unassuming trailer that serves the best breakfast tacos. In any case, the menu includes a lunch special: an appetizer, soup and entree for 8.95$. I chose the Mussaman curry and the thai dumplings and was very happy with both. I confess, my choices had a lot to do with minimizing the number of asterisks after the dish title- after all I am living in Austin and have developed a fear of the firepower behind those little stars. The dish, at one star, had a good kick but didn't necessitate the waitress brining me my own water pitcher. For those more adventurous and/or with fewer pain receptor on their palate, there were many hotter dishes available as well. To complete my review, the service was attentive, the clientele was mostly business groups on lunch break, and restaurant organization is comfortable enough for groups to eat alongside single diners.

My dad and I ate here tonight after reading the 4 star rating...and it was right on. We had the Tulip Dumplings as an appetizer. Very dense and tasty with a delicious dipping sauce. Also had a noodle app which was good. Main entree for me was Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken. Very clean, meaning not too oily as this dish can sometimes be. Taste could have been a bit more flavorful, but I'd rate it a 4.

If you are a Thai food fan, hurry to the Thai Orchid. Was there for the first time yesterday and can't wait to go back. Shared Thai dumplings and fortune bags--both crisp, not greasy, and filled with delicious ingredients. I had the drunken noodles with shrimp--large tender shrimp, noodles and sauce just right. My friend had the shrimp pad see yew--another tasty dish. The food is not only delicious, but the presentation is very attractive and the service is friendly and efficient . We both requested that our entrees be just a little spicy and we got exactly what we requested. This is a BYO so bring your favorite white and enjoy your meal.

Absolutely phenomenal Thai restaurant in Philadelphia! I came here with my super diet-restrictive Indian family and the service was so great. Christie was our waitress and she was so nice and accommodating. My grandma is severely allergic to eggs and the rest of us are vegetarian so needless to say, we had very particular instructions on how to cook our food Lol. We ordered three appetizers all of which were superb! We had the cabbage salad which is basically a traditional papaya salad but with cabbage. We had Tom yum soup which was so flavorful. And finally we had the veggie dumplings which are basically fried potstickers; these came with a delicious sweet dark sauce which complimented the dumplings very well. For the main course, we shared three dishes. We had drunken noodles, holy basil stir fry, and red curry and all were excellent and had unique tastes. You know the food is perfect when you don't have to add any additional sauces or hot sauce. We ordered our food mild and it was not too spicy but just perfect; I can't handle any heat and it was great for me. The decor at this restaurant is so traditional yet modern. I loved the color scheme, elephants, tablecloths, dishes, utensils, and even the water glasses were beautiful!! The staff all wears traditional Thai clothing which is a really nice touch too. Thai Orchid, please come open up a location in Los Angeles!!!!!!!! I'd give you 10 stars if I could.

This was my third visit (2 dine in, 1 take out.) I have nothing but good things to say about this place. Food was delicious and fresh. Staff was friendly and fast each time. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they offer a lunch special including soup, app and entree for $9.99. It is a good amount of food and everything I ordered was served hot, and fast. (Important since I was on my lunch break this time around.) My waitress was pleasant and attentive. It was a little chilly in the restaurant and I thought it was just me, until I heard others mention it as well. I ordered the Thai dumplings, Thai ravioli soup and the chicken pad Thai... All were very good. Pad Thai is always my go to! Overall, very good. I will for sure be back.

Four stars rated as a neighborhood restaurant. Service was on point! Atmosphere was pleasant. Tom Ka and Tofu soups were solid and hit the spot on broth. Siam noodle as the entree was a generous portion. Fresh veggies and a nice change up from pad Thai. Red curry with tofu and veggies had heat and sweet. Ask for extra rice though. My wife and I were here this evening after buying a LivingSocial coupon. Between the two of us we ordered the Tulip Dumplings, the Plah Kung Salad, and one of their special items of the day - an "Evil Jungle Noodles." Of these three dishes, the dumplings were very average and the plah kung salad was also ho-hum. As I was writing the review, I went back to their menu and noticed that the description of the tulip dumplings says that they include a mix of chicken, shrimp, and crabmeat. Well let me tell you that I did not find the taste of crab meat in those dumplings! Certainly when compared with Chinese restaurants in Center City, the tulip dumplings were quite disappointing. The Plah Kung Salad which was a "regular" salad served with grilled shrimp and bell peppers was fine but as my wife pointed out, it had a little too much of the spicy lemon & lime vinaigrette in the salad itself and the dressing could have been given on the side. The other issue which I had with the salad is that I am used to having salads that are served cold (or at least not warm) but that was not the case here. I am not sure if it was on account of the grilled shrimp or because the ingredients had been kept outside a fridge, the salad appeared *warm* to me and that threw me off a bit. For all of their shortcomings though, there was one dish which really hit the right notes and that was the evil jungle noodles. Think of it as drunken (rice) noodles but one that also uses coconut milk in its preparation, which gives it an extra kick. W.r.t. the spiciness, although the dish was shown as having 3 chills next to it which translates to pretty spicy, we found the spiciness very manageable. Granted we do have some serious spicy food, but compared with what we might cook ourselves or even some Asian dishes that we have at restaurants, this dish was not particularly spicy. Besides the food, we appreciated the service which was quick. Also, our waitstaff were courteous and attentive in ensuring that our glasses were full all throughout the evening. They handled the LivingSocial coupon promptly as well. We left shortly before the restaurant closed at 10:00 p.m. but did not feel rushed at all. In fact, one of our servers asked us (possibly around 9:45 p.m.) if we would like to order something from the dessert menu, but being too full we passed up on that. As we were leaving, we noticed that there was another party (possibly parents with their daughter) also seated and chatting away comfortably. Lastly, we enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant and felt that it fit well with the food. Overall, our experience was pretty positive and hence the (relatively) high rating. Things that take a star away are some of the issues I mentioned earlier with the dumplings and the salad. Also, when I did call them to make a reservation, they said that they don't seat patrons beyond 9:15 p.m. Now when the restaurant says that it stays open until 10:00, it seems a bit too much not to have patrons come in after 9:15. I would have certainly liked the ability to come in by say 9:30 because we did have to alter our plans slightly to make sure that we were there at the restaurant before 9:15 p.m. However, all things considered, I know that we will be back here again for some good Thai food along with good service and recommend that you also give this place a shot.

Had to drop this place down to 3 stars on account of its slow as a snail service!:( Seven of us made the 20 minute drive to Blue Bell on Friday for a work lunch because we've always loved the food at Thai Orchid. The place was packed, but not any more so than other Fridays when we've visited. Thankfully we got a table without having made a reservation. Their lunch special is a soup, an appetizer, and an entree for $10 and we all came for that. It took about 10 minutes from when we were seated for all of us to even get menus. We ordered quickly because we had to eat and get back to work! I timed it; it took 35 minutes from when we were seated to get our soups. Mind you, they have the same lunch special every single day and probably don't make each of the 3 offered soups individually so this wait was pretty ridiculous. The delays kept up from there and all of us were starving and becoming extremely letdown. The food was okay, but the hype was gone. Got back to the office 2 hours and 20 minutes after we left. I'm so sad to say that we probably won't be coming back here for awhile:/

Oh so good. The closest Thai place to where I work now is 15 minutes, and it's Thai Orchid. Their lunch special is a great deal. You get your choice of soup, appetizer, and entree for $10. N and I both got Thai Dumplings, Tom Yum soup, and Drunken noodles - hers with beef, mine with chicken. Everything was really good, and entree is large. I didn't give 5 stars because of the two following reasons: 1) They made hers WAYYY too spicy to the point where she almost couldn't eat. I got mine 1 spice level below hers, and when I tried hers, there was a huge difference! I actually wanted more spice in mine, and my one bite of hers set my mouth on fire. Yes, she probably could have sent hers back but she didn't want to. 2) We paid the bill. I checked my credit card statement later, and I noticed they rounded up my bill! It was only a couple cents but, hey, it's the principle that counts!!! Maybe it was a mistake, maybe it wasn't. Either way, it's never ok to alter someone's bill.

I had to mix the basil sauce in, which was actually really good. The portions are still very generous, and our food was served very quickly. Fantastic! We enjoyed the tulip dumplings, chicken satay (best ever!)with sweet and sour cucumber salad, crispy rolls, tutti fruity duck and shrimp pad Thai. Outstanding!!! We have eaten at other Thai restaurants and we both agree that Thai Orchid is the best around. Our waitress was professional, prompt and sweet. The décor is sparkly, native and turns a strip mall location into another world. Not one aspect of our meal was less than impressive! Don't miss out on this gem!

While it may be that the spicy food is better, thus reflecting the high Yelp rating, I will say that my family and I were disappointed with most of our meal. The pros: the service was good and the decor was nice. The waitress offered us kids sized forks and spoons when the food came (dessert sized?). The dumpling soup was very tasty and the kids loved it as well. The fried tofu was bland, but well fried and crispy. The ok: I felt the shrimp Pad Thai was cooked to the right level, the sauce wasn't especially tasty, but it was edible, just not amazing. Similarly, the massaman curry was ok, but the quality of the white rice that it came with was subpar. The fried rice was fine. The bad: I felt the chicken Pad Thai had slightly over-cooked noodles in too much mediocre sauce, while the chicken pieces were tough and difficult to chew through. The coconut mushroom soup was interesting, but I found the pieces of chicken in it to be extremely tough to the point of being basically inedible. Fortunately, there were only one or two big pieces of chicken. I didn't like the salad at all - heavy lemon/lime dressing with cabbage type "greens" and a few chunks of tomatoes. The annoying - they automatically added gratuity to our party of 3 adults and 2 young kids. I thought it was normally parties of six and up? I didn't notice this when reading the menu, but in going on their website, it is prominently displayed that a gratuity if 18% is added for parties of 5 or more. They were very professional and refilled the water constantly, so they would have gotten a good tip anyway. Still, it's the presumption that I wasn't a fan of. Overall, there was nothing atrociously bad about the meal but it left me feeling lacking (and much poorer, $95 for 3 adults and 2 toddlers).

It consists of 3 courses: I had a nicely seasoned small bowl of Lemongrass Soup, the crispy and flavorful Thai dumplings and the Evil Jungle Princess which was not as spicy as I expected but good nevertheless. My lunch partner had the Lemongrass Soup, the Thai dumplings which she rated good. For her entree she had the Pad Thai which was ok but she felt the flavors of the different components of the dish didn't stand out as they should have. The waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. The decor is very Thai and tasteful without being overwhelming. All in all, a good place to enjoy Thai food.

Delicious. Loved the fish cakes with the awesome cucumber sauce and the dumplings. The sister had the Tom Yum soup but it was a little too sour for my preference. The pad thai was delicious! I had the shrimp and she had the beef. Good sized portions. I would've preferred a lime vs. a lemon but with the lime shortage I can understand the substitution. It was extremely flavorful, almost too much, if that's even possible. So maybe add some more bean sprouts to even out the umami. Overall a solid meal. I would go back for the fishcakes and that amazing sauce they served with it! mmmm It might've been a little pricier than I'm used to but my sis assured me that's the going rate around her area.

*This review is for lunch only* It's tough choosing between Thai Orchid and Pho Thai Nam for the lunch special. Both offer great value and good food. In terms of quantity, Thai Orchid wins out as it gives you an option for soup/salad, a starter and an entrée. Pho Thai Nam gives you a soda, soup/salad/roll, and an entrée. When it comes to the food, it's tough to choose. The starters at Thai Orchid are really good, especially the Thai Dumplings. The issue is that it's all about the entrée and for me, Pho Thai Nam wins in that category. The Pad Thai at Pho Thai Nam is just too damn good. The Pad Thai at Thai Orchid just doesn't compete with Pho Thai Nam and the Drunken Noodles feel like there is something missing. The saving grace for Thai Orchid is the quantity and the delicious starters. In terms of where I actually go, I hit up Pho Thai Nam much more often for the Pad Thai but it's nice to have some variety and check out Thai Orchid. Thai Orchid has also stepped their game up recently so I'm hoping that the entrée will get better and make me split my time between the two restaurants.

This was one of favorite lunch spots, so I deliberated about doing this update. Lemongrass Soup and veggie spring roll were as good as always. The beef Pad Thai was sour - as if someone had squeezed a whole lemon into the plate. The beef was a bit over cooked, but edible. The few sprouts I could find appeared to be mixed in. I ate about a quarter of the dish. They did ask me if I wanted to take the rest home, and I said "No, it wasn't very good." End of conversation, apparently.

Like many have previously stated, this is a nice little place hidden in a strip mall. We had attentive service. Was a week night around 6PM with just a few other tables in there. Had the lemongrass soup with shrimp, was good, but a little more tart than many others that I have had. Chicken coconut soup, was also good, but the coconut flavor was way more pronounced that some. OK The Chu Chee Duck was EXCEPTIONAL! Served crispy, yet tender. Very nice portion size Great balanced blend of red curry with a little heat. Beautifully displayed on plate I will absolutely order this again! The Drunken noodles were also Very good. My dinner partner asked for less heat, and they delivered it perfectly. My favorite Thai place in the area! The food is always extremely flavorful, the vegetables light and fresh, and the meat always is quality. It is a nice quiet spot to dine in or perfect to take out. It's the kind of food I crave regularly and they have wonderful vegetarian options. Even if you aren't a vegetarian I recommend ordering from the veg menu! The people working there are always so sweet and attentive and I always leave happy. I've been here a number of times and it has been consistently delicious. HIGHLY recommend to anyone and everyone!

This is my go-to spot to meet up with one of my closest friends. I never feel rushed. Most recently, my friend and I met up on a Friday night and meandered over a meal for an hour and a half. The food is quite reasonable and even the less spicy options are very flavorful. I've had the pad thai here which is excellent, but my normal order is the vegetarian lover. That dish is packed with vegetables, fried tofu and comes with a very tasty sauce and a side of Thai white rice. My friend ordered the Buddha dumplings to start and a noodle dish for her main entree. Her father owned a Chinese restaurant for years, and he still cooks for her at home, so she's very picky when it comes to Asian dishes. She's always happy to meet me at Thai Orchid which speaks highly of the food here.

I really liked Thai Orchid. The food was very tasty (altogether, we had pad thai, tulip dumplings, green curry, and chicken satay). Everything was very flavorful and hot (my husband's curry was spicy hot as well as temperature hot). The decor inside is really nice and for where the restaurant is -- located on the end of a strip mall -- you'd never expect it. When you're inside, you almost feel transported because it's done so nicely. The only thing that I didn't like about Thai Orchid was that it took an extremely long time for our food to arrive and there was an overly lengthy time between courses as well. The restaurant was packed when we were there that evening, but even so, I think they need to be a little more on top of getting the food out. With that said, the food was worth the wait and I definitely plan on going back in the future.

Found this restaurant, when we were really hungry and no clue about which restaurant to go. Although it is situated in a run down mall, the ambiance was amazing inside the restaurant. Probably, they should replace their old roof, which doesn't go good with their pretty props. We got Buddha dumplings for appetizer, which was amazing. Thai ice tea was usual. I got Jungle to Jungle for main entree, where as my friend got a dish which was a medley of beef, shrimp, chicken and vegetables with red curry. The only turn off is the dessert. The fried bananas were battered like double stuffed tempura and deep fried. As far as I know, from my thai friends, the fried banana will be slightly breaded and shallow fried. I would have given 5 stars, if it wasn't the only case. I would definitely go here again.

Actually, I had the thai dumplings, lemongrass soup, and red curry. And it was the most comforting meal that I had have outside of my home in a long time. I am not easily impressed by the cuisines of Vietnam's neighbors, because they can hit too close to home...and make me just want to go to my mommy's cooking...basically mom's cooking trumps all. But Thai Orchid presented me with food that pleasantly surprised my taste buds and, frankly, made me smile :-) Ok ok, I also HAD to try the thai iced tea, because what better way to end the meal than with a flavor that I was super familiar with and already enjoyed? Thai Orchid is another local establishment I continue to frequent. The food has been delicious and the experience wonderful. I have visited during lunch and dinner during the week and weekends. I have tried to order something different everytime. Thai Orchid is a byob which helps keep their prices reasonable. The lunch special is definitely worth it for the portions you get and price paid. The only slight complaint I have is service was a tad slow for lunch and ended up being over an hour which caused me to be late getting back to work. They were busy for lunch service so it's not as if I was the only one dining in at that time. Dinner at Thai Orchid has always been an enjoyable experience. I've dined in with a large party and on other occasions with a party of two. Each time the service has been cordial and helpful. It's the little things like making sure your water glass is full that I really appreciate. I recommend the Evil Jungle Princess to those who like spicy. The drunken noddles are quite tasty as well! I have yet to try take out...Perhaps this will be my next Yelp Review.

Wild jungle princess. That's your first thing to know here. The food is great, the ambiance is very cool. It's comforting and not overdone like some of the south pacific restaurants you see. Thai chillies bring to life hints in each meal. The vegetables and rice are done fresh and you never taken a bite wondering "What can was this taken from?" For what you get, the prices are very reasonable. It's a little restaurant hidden in a strip mall, but it stands alone in blue bell.

"A Kick in the Lips" And that's just the description for the low end of the heat spectrum. At Thai Orchid you can dial it up for "tingling sensation" or ratchet it all the way to a "raging fire." However you like it, Thai Orchid is perfectly tuned to even the most discriminating tastes. I recommend the Thai Dumplings (pork, bamboo shoot, black mushroom, sesame soy sauce), Tom Yum with chicken, Tutti Frutti Duck (crispy and tender, with a sublime raspberry and Chambord sauce), and masterful Thai Eggplant with chicken and garlic. Whatever you get, you can't help but to enjoy asking for your favorites by name, when the names are like these: Fortune Bag Crying Tiger Evil Jungle Princess Heavenly Curry (who can dispute a name like that?) Love & Passion Lady's Slipper After your entree, settle back into a ice cream dessert with the power to produce multiple thunderous lady orgasms. Service is efficient, calm, and never rushed. Eating on the railed platform makes the experience extra fun, delivering the kind of surreal thrill you get when stepping onto a (Thai) Tilt a Whirl. The only thing more surreal is exiting this palace of pleasure onto a blank strip mall parking lot.

Consistently good Thai food. The ugly strip mall gives way to a pretty well decorated dining room, with details right down to the Thailand sourced bronze flatware. Service is good, it feels like there's not much turnover in their staff. They don't have great glassware, but it's not like the sparkling we brought was any worse for wear. Entrees are great, I love a blazing heat that is cut down just a bit with some cooling coconut milk. The green curry dish hits it right on with some serious intensity and more than enough sauce for immersing the accompanying rice. Bold and spicy shrimp was exactly what my wife was in the mood for with its own kick. We used to come here more frequently a few years ago. It's a bit of a drive from where I currently live, but I'm more than happy to pass a few other Thai restaurants to come here.

I'm always up for good Thai food! We went for lunch at they had an excellent lunch menu, for only $8.95! (soup, appetizer, and entree) The lemongrass soup was yummy. I think the star ratings are accurate (from the 2 things I tried). One pepper is just a little bit spicy. But bearable. (Though my nose was sweating maybe just a little.) The tulip dumplings were probably my favorite, of the three parts of my meal. I got the Thai Basil, mostly because it was 1 star and I was afraid to go higher, and because I always get Pad Thai when I go to Thai places and wanted to try something new. Honestly, I think I should've just gone with the Pad Thai, or maybe what other Yelpers recommended, like drunken noodle or other dishes (but I was just afraid of the spiciness; now I realize I could've just asked for them to take it down a notch or two...), but the dish I got was still good. Just not quite 5 star good. But overall I think it was a nice atmosphere, decent service, and a pretty good price.

Came here for their lunch special on a Friday I think- they have a great lunch special, it was $8.99 for a 3 course meal. Thai iced tea was good (as always anywhere you go). The tulip dumplings tasted like shumai. We got their house salad (ok) and their lemongrass soup (not too great- tasted lke flavorless chicken broth with a few veggies). Their drunken noodles were good, soft and flavorful. Their evil jungle princess was just a spicy blend of chicken and veggies in this sauce. Also got their mango with sticky rice- they gave you a generous portion with different fruit in this bed of coconut milk- yum! I would come here again given the decent food and the great lunch special price.

Just had dinner at Thai Orchid and I was pretty impressed overall. The restaurant is very pretty inside and the servers were attentive, but not overbearing. I was really craving some spicy food and they didn't disappoint. Boyfriend and I split Tom Yum and Tulip Dumplings. He had Thai Basil with chicken and I had Drunken Noodle with chicken. The dinners were really good, my Drunken Noodle was pretty much the perfect amount of spicy. I like spicy food, so it may be a little on the hot side for someone who doesn't really do spicy much, but you could probably have them tone it down. The Thai Basil was also pretty good. The only reason I gave this four stars instead of five, was the Tom Yum. It was ok, but it was definitely missing something. The Tulip Dumplings were also ok. They tasted good with the sauce, but were a little bland.

I REALLY enjoyed the Thai Orchid. I wasn't expecting to find Thai this good in a strip mall, but my, was I surprised. They were pretty busy when we got there, but we had reservations so we rolled right in and got a table immediately (sweet!). I was really taken aback by how nice the hostess and the waitress were. They were genuinely very friendly and even laughed convincingly at my usual offering of lame jokes. The restaurant is a BYO and we brought a bottle of wine, which they promptly uncorked and put on ice. Their menu has a heat/spiciness scale that goes up to 4 peppers. I got the drunken noodles (marked as 3 peppers) and asked if they could make them "at least a 4." They were happy to oblige and I found the heat level to be perfect. The spring rolls were also very good. Overall, I was extremely happy with our experience at Thai Orchid and will definitely go back. Highly recommended.

This BYOB serves Thai fare. When I ask for my food to be made spicy, their staff does a great job bringing it out just right. On the menu, if there are 3 peppers by an entree to indicate its spiciness, I request at least 5 (usually 8 to see how high they can kick it up)! Their green curry is genuinely spicy - you ought to sign a waiver before trying to eat it! I've ordered their Thai Bamboo ($7, stir-fried dish with beef - you can get it with chicken - with bamboo shoots, peppers, beans, and fresh basil), drunken noodles (with chicken), and pad thai, all delicious. Servers are friendly - our servers (Nui, and another one I can't spell) are always good and efficient. I've ordered take-out here as well and the food comes out quick. They get busy Fridays and Saturdays! Make reservations if you want to dine in on those days. This is one of my favorite regional Thai restaurants - highly recommended. UPDATE: I came here on my birthday and someone mentioned it was - they brought out a cake with a candle, on the house, how nice is that?

After having an awesome experience at Chiangmai, T and I wanted to try Thai Orchid as well to see if it could hold up. It did! We had the Tom Yum soup, Fortune Bags, Drunken Noodles and Bold & Spicy Shrimp. Everything was just amazing but seriously, I can't get enough of the drunken noodles. T was the one who ordered the dish but I think I'm going to be forced to get my own next time. And I'd like to try it with shrimp instead of chicken just to change things up. Don't get me wrong, my bold and spicy shrimp were fantastic. Just enough heat to keep things interesting but not completely kill your taste buds. Fresh veggies and rice. Very tasty. But the noodles? There are no comparisons. I will say I thought Chiangmai had a BIT of an edge but that's just personal preference. I'm becoming a VERY big fan of the Thai food ...

In an attempt to find a thai restaurant that was open on a random sunday evening, we found ourselves at Thai Orchid. Yes, I thought that was strange too that we ran into three others that were closed for no apparent reason. The only reason we didn't try this first was mainly for distance, nothing philosophical. Anyway. Upon arrival, we were lucky enough to get seated immediately. As had been in a previous experience, there was a bit of a wait. Considering how packed the place was, the two servers did their best to accommodate everyone diligently. And, the place seems to be too small to have more than two servers as well. So we had to wait few extra minutes for our orders, but no biggie. The food took care of it all - Lemongrass soup, Chicken Coconut soup, Pad Thai Duck, Evil Jungle Princess, and 2 sensational banana (or something to that nature). The lemongrass soup didn't have any lemongrass in it. But, it was spicy and had three GIANT shrimp floating in it that made me forget all about the lemongrass. Soup wasn't too spicy or too bland. Just perfect and tasty. Chicken Coconut Soup was sensational. Some places make it really sweet that just takes the thrill away. We did wish there were few pieces of carrots in there. Pad Thai Duck was the special of the day. The duck was dipped in batter and deep fried. Although it was crispy on the outside, the meat seemed a bit too dry. But, I forgot all about that as I dug into the pad thai. Every bite of the tender noodle was balanced off with peanut garnish and crunchy lemongrass. I got mine to be extra extra spicy even though it wasn't indicated on the menu of being a spicy dish. The portion was just perfect to stem off a hungry stomach, but not so much so that there were no room left for desert. Evil Jungle Princess is a medley of vegetables and chicken cooked in a spicy sauce. Again, we got ours to be extra extra spicy. The dish was filled with sauce and fresh vegetables with a scoop of rice at a corner. Nothing bad or sub par can be said about this dish. Then came the desert. Oh Boy. Sensation Banana (or something to that nature) - basically, its their fried desert dish topped off with a scoop of a variety of their ice cream. We went with mango ice cream with mango sauce. The fried banana was brilliant - crispy on the outside, firm on the inside. Some places, the banana is overcooked and ends up smushy. Which was what I was expecting here as well. But, I was thoroughly surprised. The mango ice cream and the mango sauce was a pretty good complement to the banana. Their silverware was actually from thailand and made of brass. Found that to be an impressive feature. The decor of elephants plastered all over the walls was quite pleasing to the ambiance as well. The only down point of our visit this time was how long we had to wait to give our order and again for the food to arrive. But, can't fault them much for it. The place literally packed. And they tried their best to tend to everyone. Will definitely return again soon during a weekday or something when its less noisy/crowded.

Yum, yum and YUM! Did I mention YUM? The food here is really great and they have awesome lunch specials. The decor is charming and the servers are very polite and attentive without being too pesty. I never feel rushed here, even when they are crowded and busy. My favorite is their Drunken Noodles. Spicy with just enough heat and good flavor also. Definitely recommend them!

I come here whenever I can for their Drunken Noodles. It's pretty good but still a little salty. I cannot say its the best I ever had....but it's the best in the PA/NJ area that I can find so far. They'll make it spicier for you if you want and will use actually thai chillies not like some places where they just added dried red pepper flakes. I'm not impress with their Tom Yum soups or the other appetizers on the menu. Once we ordered their dumplings and it came out smelling sour. We told our waitress and she said that's normal. I'm not sure that's right. Nothing should smell sour unless it's bad or pickled. In any case, instead of taking it away immediately she tried to dispute it. I wasn't very please with that type of approach. I didn't want to start a scene just wanted the appetizer to be remove. We still come here...because I do enjoy their drunken noodles but that's all we ordered.

I am proud to say that I have been in love with this place for two years now. The food is completely amazing. The chicken satay, crispy rolls and drunken noodles are to die for! It's a BYOB, so bring a good bottle of white wine to make for an excellent dinner. YUM!

My family and I love this restaurant. Everything about it is wonderful. The decor is exotic, the atmosphere is quiet and the food is delicious. The menu contains nothing unusual, the typical Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles and Evil Jungle Princess among others. But everything is fresh, flavorful and attractively presented. The Thai Orchid looks like a typical strip mall ethnic restaurant but it is so much better. The staff is efficient, unobtrusive and remarkably attractive. They have a great lunch prix fix deal. It is our go-to neighborhood place and I recommend it often.

I have to admit, after reading several not-so-great reviews about this place, I was a little hesitant to try it. However, uber-hungry fiance in the mood for Thai food outweighed my doubts, so off we went! The restaurant is small and the tables are packed closely together. There is a whole lot going on in terms of decoration, so it can be a bit of a sensory overload. Overall, the service was excellent and very quick, especially considering there only appeared to be two servers for the entire dining room. We tried a few appetizers, all ok but nothing special. We both had dim sum, mine only mildly spicy and his quite spicy, and both enjoyed our dishes. The bill amounted to only $34 (the restaurant is a BYOB, and no corking fee!), which was great for the amount of food that we ordered. Not sure we'll be back any time soon, but I'm glad we tried Thai Orchid.

Consistent food never had a bad meal here and always seems to be a good spot when needing to impress someone. The duck dishes here are pretty solid as are the lamb dishes. I usually get them since its pretty good. The only thing thats a little off putting is the owner/manager is a white guy in an "authentic" Thai restaurant. Just some food for thought

Came here after hearing some good things about their thai food, and always up for a change of cuisine, I figured I'd give it a go. Sat down in the multi-leveled dining room, which was filled with a handful of other lunch-goers. Not sure if they still run their lunch special, but I got a small salad, soup, and entree for a really good price. The salad was a simple, but fresh garden variety, and the soup, a vegetarian tofu was lightly flavored and not overly salted. I chose the green "Heavenly" curry, with all veggies, and it came out with a scoop of fragrant basmati rice and a delicious vegetable-coconut combo that was perfectly spiced, light, yet rich. All in all, the atmosphere, and meal were excellent, and I will have to try them out for dinner.

I enjoyed Thai Orchid this evening for the first time. I started off with the Chicken Satay and a friend ordered the Coconut Milk Soup. Both were outstanding. I only think I would have preferred was a little more cucumber salad with the Chicken Satay. Entree I enjoyed the Musselman Curry which was very satisfying with nice pieces of chicken and well seasoned, it had a midly spicy flavor and a nice hint of peanut flavor. I do have to say it had potatoes in it and they were not cooked hard enough for my liking, but this could be a Thai thing I am unaware of as I usually default to Pad Thai. Dessert I enjoyed the Cocount Ice Cream which had specks of coconut through out and was served in a Chocolate Shell. I greatly enjoyed the entire meal and suggest it. Sadly for the quality of the food and the styling of the restuarunt we were there for 2.5 hours as a group of 7 and only saw maybe 5 customers come in. I hope this was just because it was between 5PM and 7:30PM on a Thursday.

Excellent food, horrible service for our dinner experience this past weekend. Our party of 4 were seated immediately, and then waited at our table for 10 to 12 minutes (maybe 15) without anyone coming over to even bring water or say hello. One of us got up, went to look for a server, and asked them to come over to our table, which they finally did. The restaurant, located in a suburban shopping center, was not even half full with patrons. We complained about the service, and we were told no one has ever complained before. (Maybe instead of complaining they just don't return, hence the half empty restaurant). No apologies given. The wait time between appetizer and entrée was 15 minutes or more. No one ever came by to refill beverages; we always had to ask. I ordered lemon grass soup, and asked if they could bring Chinese noodles with it. When the soup came, the server brought a plate of steamed noodles! (Had they ever been in a Chinese restaurant?) To be fair in this review, all four of us were highly satisfied with the food, and the dishes are reasonably priced. It's a shame our experience that night overshadowed everything else.

I'm updating my review because I've gone back a few more times with friends who swore by this place. The food actually has some good gems on it. It is a hit or miss, in my opinion. When it is a hit though, it is a big hit. Try the pineapple fried rice or the spicy Thai shrimp special. These were very good. Pad Thai was nice here, as well. Some of the other dishes are just OK. The inside of the restaurant is very cozy and nicely decorated.

I am writing this review because I just made a 1 star review of another thai place that I mistakenly decided to try!!! Forget that, I will never again try another Thai place in the area, Thai Orchid ROCKS! Great service, very nice decor, but mainly the food is wonderful. Plus it's BYOB, and the prices are very reasonable. Bring a bottle of wine, get 2 apps and 2 entrees, and with tip, you're under $50! That can't be beat. And like I said, I tried another Thai restaurant today, and I took 1 bite, and I immediately asked for the check, picked up my cell phone, and called Thai Orchid and ordered take out! That's not an exaggeration! My wife and I would like to apologize to Thai Orchid, we promise to never try another thai place again!!! If you're NEW to Thai food, let me recommend a few items. As an app, you want the Crispy Rolls (if 2 people, get 2 orders). If you don't mind some spice, get the Lemongrass soup, it's awesome! If you don't like Hot/Spicy foods, no problem, order the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken. My wife has a stomach condition, she can't have any pepper, this is her favorite dish, perfect every single time we've had it, NEVER has any kind of pepper in it. Another good dish for a beginner that's not sure about getting something with spice, get the Pad Thai with shrimp OR chicken. This one is very good for a newbie. If you're cool with spicy food, my favority dish is Basil Fried Rice with Chicken (also available with shrimp). It's my old standby, love this stuff! Sometimes I mix it up and I go with the Evil Jungle Princess, the Drunken Noodle with Chicken, or the Thai Basil with Chicken. You can't go wrong with any of these... AGAIN, THIS IS THE BEST THAI PLACE AROUND, SUPPORT THIS GREAT PLACE SO THAT IT NEVER EVER GOES OUT OF BUSINESS!!

Amazing..I've been here on several occasions and the food has been phenomenal. Ambience was decorous and really felt that there was a lot of time and creativity into creating a high-end Thai experience. I'm not all that into ambience...the food is where it's at. i've had the Cuu Cee duck..delicious..the skin is grilled to perfection and the inside are tender and juicy. Topped with a delicious white sauce which i used sparingly to savor the flavor of the meat. Their curry dishes are good..spicy, hot, flavorful, creamy, no toning down of flavor here. The noodle dishes are spectacular..they are Americanized which i think is a good thing. (I've had my fair share of authentic thai dishes). There is a certain flavor to these noodle dishes, unique to Thai Orchid and not necessarily a bad thing at all...to be honest, i enjoy these noodles moreso than the 'authentic' noodles you'll find elsewhere..they really got Thai noodles down for the Blue bell area in my opinion. All in all, a gem of a restaurant serving great Thai food to the Blue Bell area.

It seems that this place switched mostly to a common lunch and dinner menu where you pick one item from three categories. While that simplifies the choices and standardizes the prices, that also takes away from what use to be a pretty good menu. Also, if you swap to this method, you better make darn sure the limited items you're serving are good. The food seems like a huge downgrade from the last time I stopped by, which is really disappointing...

This is the worst Thai food I have ever had. The red curry had odd vegetables in it for the dish and the shrimp were over-cooked. The pad Thai also had over-cooked shrimp and was just all around sub-par. The bbq chicken was horribly dry and very boring. The worst were the lotus dumplings which were the consistency of tuna fish and had gristle in them. We could not eat them but my cats loved them. My cats give Thai Orchid a paws up but its pretty expensive cat food. We will never eat here again.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. I have been here twice and have ordered the same thing each time - Evil Jungle Princess extra spicy. I ordered take out the 2nd time and was slightly disappointed with the amount of chicken in my dish. If I sat down to eat I probably would have asked for more, but it wasn't that big of a deal. The service is quick and the food is bomb. Not much more you can ask for. Highly recommended if you enjoy Thai food.

We love this place! We've been fans for years. The ambiance is great and the service is excellent. They also accomodate take-out orders. Wetried another Thai Orchid in Devon (we thought maybe they were by the same owners?) but we strongly prefer the Blue Bell one. We love just about everything we've tried at this restaurant (except maybe the desserts...) I only knocked off a star because the last few times I've ordered the royal crabcakes they've had a bit of shell in them and the quality of the lump crab meat seems to have declined (more shredded bits of crab and fewer big, juicy lumps). I would have preferred they raise the price and not compromise the quality of my favorite dish.

If not for the food, this would be scored lower in my book. The food there was great! Me and my girlfriend ordered two different appetizers & entrees so we could share. We got the chance to try four different dishes. They were all awesome! The service needs to be better. We had a young lady who kept bringing water to the table every few minutes, then we didn't see her for at least ten minutes. The food is spicy and you do need to keep drinking to really enjoy it without choking. They seemed more interested in turning tables than taking care of the current customers.

The place was decorated very nicely and appeared very clean. Cleanliness is important for us. The waitress was nice and the food was good. Prices were pretty standard and the food presentation was nice. We ordered red curry duck and drunken noodles. No complaints about the noodles and the duck was really good. The red curry sauce was just a little bit too milky though. That didn't stop us from devouring the dish though. The crispy duck was really good. When we get a chance to go back and try some other dishes, I will update this review.

Good place to go for lunch. The lunch special is great. Give you a soup, appetizer and main dish for only $11. All their curry dishes are above par and so are their vegetable dishes. Had the coconut ice cream for dessert and it was fabulous.

Pretty decent Thai for the burbs. We spent a few years in LA where we were spoiled with an inexpensive and delectable Thai restaurant practically in every block. I think it's sort of pricey and the service isn't great. The Pad See Ew is very tasty and I prefer it over their Pad Thai. This place is ok for a quick Thai fix.

I'll admit Thai food is new to me, but I have a feeling I'll be having it more often after my experience at Thai Orchid. We went on a Saturday afternoon and got seated right away. The waitress was very friendly, and concerned for my wife when she ordered the spiciest thing on the menu. She doesn't know my wife very well :) I ordered the drunken noodles, which was had 2 peppers next to it, denoting the spiciness. It was pretty damned spicy, which I liked, but I was actually sweating! The taste of the dish was DELICIOUS! Yes i just yelled that. Overall, I give this restaurant 2 thumbs up, and will definitely be returning.

I'm all about the 'ratio' of meat compared to the rest of the ingredients. (read my other reviews) The last few times I've taken out here, the ratio of chicken in the Green Curry dish is disappointing. 'Where's the Beef?' There was certainly enough potatoes, rice and carrots, but not enough chicken.. BOOOooo ... the Chicken Satay app is good, as well as the dumplings. I get the Satay so I can cut it up and add it to the Curry dish, which is lacking in chicken. Please Thai orchid, add a little bit more chicken to your main dishes, and I'll be a repeat customer.

one word: WOW! I went here maybe a month or so back as a nice night out with the boy. Due to the lovely economy, money's a bit tight so we were looking for something both delicious and nicely priced. Thai Orchid was it. We were seated promptly for a friday night, which I'm guessing had a lot to do with the torrential down pour outside. Drinks: Thai Tea! delicioussssssss! Appetizer: some sort of thai verison of calamari but SUPERSIZED. Served with a delicious peanut curry dipping sauce, made it so delicious. Not overly chewy which is something I simply CANNOT STAND. Dinner: I got the pad thai, which is my 'play it safe' thai dish and OH MY LORD it was executed perfectly (and the portion size=huge), left overs were borderline orgasmic..the boy got the tiger princess something and jesus was it spicy--but so good! (Charmin is thanking us for that night, ha! for a man who can't handle spice, he loves it) desert: a pumpkin custard, kinda like flan. delicious. Honestly, this place is the BEST. Love it, friendly wait staff...thai coffee is great too can't wait to go again! Thai Orchid, you had me at hello!

The food here is consistently good. My GF and I go here together, and we often meet friends for a foursome. The service is also very good. We have always enjoyed the place, never a bad experience. We have only had the dinner service. We'll try the lunch one of these days. When we want Thai this is first place we think of and we would dine there more often but it's a bit of a drive for us.

I've only been here once with a friend- it was just before noon on a weekday so we joined the business lunch rush. My impressions from Thai Orchid jibe with the tone of the other reviews: this place is elegant, efficient, and reasonably priced to boot. If you ventured here without prior experience or recommendation, you might be surprised to find tasteful decor and a well planned and executed menu at a restaurant that sits aside a Supercuts and Blockbuster. But perhaps the stripmall location equates this gem with a hole-in-the wall joint in a city or an unassuming trailer that serves the best breakfast tacos. In any case, the menu includes a lunch special: an appetizer, soup and entree for 8.95$. I chose the Mussaman curry and the thai dumplings and was very happy with both. I confess, my choices had a lot to do with minimizing the number of asterisks after the dish title- after all I am living in Austin and have developed a fear of the firepower behind those little stars. The dish, at one star, had a good kick but didn't necessitate the waitress brining me my own water pitcher. For those more adventurous and/or with fewer pain receptor on their palate, there were many hotter dishes available as well. To complete my review, the service was attentive, the clientele was mostly business groups on lunch break, and restaurant organization is comfortable enough for groups to eat alongside single diners.

I absolutely love this place. I have been there for lunch and dinner many times. Lunch is always quick. Dinner is BYOB. I highly recommend the Evil Jungle Princess. Everyone I have recommended it to has become addicted! Eat in as oppose to take out for lunch. One, you can get the soup, appetizer and entre for a cheap price. Two, the plastic container they package the lemongrass soup in always pops open and spills ! What a mess and a shame to waste such delicious soup! This is a wonder place with great service.
